Use as a complete substitute for mare's milk or as a
supplement to mare's milk whenever it is unavailable or
inadequate. It can be fed manually or cold,
free-choice to save labor and to maximize the foal's
growth potential. It will stay preserved up to 24 hours. If
fed free choice, foals will consume twice as much liquid feed at
a more natural pace than if fed twice a day. Feed colostrum from the
mare for up to three days if possible, and wean from milk replacer at
three months of age.
Silky Coat Pellets
There are sound economic advantages to weaning a foal early
even if the mare produces an adequate milk supply. Many
professionals know that early weaning pays when the mare is sent
out for breeding or is shown extensively. They've also
eliminated the risk of a highly susceptible foal picking up a
deadly disease or injury during transport or breeding.
When fed according to the directions, Silky Coat Pellets will
encourage early dry feed consumption and provide excellent
nutrition for early weaning foals. They are a supplement for
mare's milk with nutrients comparable to those provided by her
during weaning.
